💻 How do online sessions work?

I meet with clients virtually using a secure, confidential video platform. All you need is:

  • A quiet, private space where you won’t be interrupted

  • A computer, tablet, or phone with a stable internet connection

  • A comfortable seat, and (if you’d like) items such as a blanket, cushion, or grounding object

Many people find online sessions surprisingly effective, and even more comfortable than in-person sessions because they can work from their own safe space.

🌱 Can somatic therapy really work online?

Yes. Somatic therapy does not require physical touch. It’s about awareness, pacing, and gentle attention to your nervous system. We use conversation, guided awareness, imagery, and sometimes simple movements or breath. These translate beautifully into the online space.

🗣 What if I just want talk therapy?

That’s absolutely welcome. While Somatic Experiencing® and other body-based approaches are central to my work, talk therapy is often where we begin. For many people, especially those with complex or developmental trauma, focusing directly on the body can feel overwhelming at first. We’ll always go at your pace — sometimes that means starting with conversation, storytelling, or resource-building. Somatic practices can be gently introduced later, if and when they feel supportive.

😌 What if I feel overwhelmed by focusing on my body?

This is very common. The work is not about pushing you into difficult sensations, but about creating safety and choice. If noticing your body feels too much, we’ll stay with talk, resourcing, or other approaches. Over time, you may find that small, gentle moments of connection with your body become possible — but we’ll never rush that process.

🐾 Do animals or nature play a role in your sessions?

My dog often joins me quietly under the desk during sessions, offering his calm, steady presence. While I don’t currently offer equine or outdoor sessions, nature and animals can be woven into our work symbolically or through imagery. Over time, I hope to expand into more nature-based and equine-facilitated offerings.

🔐 Is online counselling confidential?

Yes. I use secure, encrypted video platforms that meet professional standards for confidentiality. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I follow all legal and ethical guidelines to protect your privacy.

📶 What happens if the internet disconnects?

If our connection drops, I’ll reach out immediately by phone or email so we can reconnect.

Yes. Many therapists, healers, and practitioners come to me for support with their own nervous systems, or to explore how somatic principles might integrate into their work.
